UAE go-to-market playbook: how to enter the UAE market and win your first customers

A practical GTM plan for companies entering the UAE: ideal customer, positioning, pricing, Arabic, channels, partners and follow-up.

Many companies enter the UAE with a licence and an office but no plan for customers. A go-to-market plan reverses the order: prove who buys and why, then build the setup around them.

1. Define your UAE ideal customer

Buyers in the UAE come from more than 200 nationalities. Pick the segment you can win first: by emirate, nationality, language, industry and budget. Talk to 15 to 20 of them before you spend on ads.

2. Position for the local market

  • Lead with the problem UAE buyers feel, not your home-market story
  • Show local proof as soon as you have it: UAE clients, reviews, a local number
  • Explain pricing in AED and include VAT where it applies

3. Language and trust

English works for most business, but Arabic content builds trust with Emirati, Saudi and Arab buyers and is essential for government and many family businesses.

4. Channels that work

  • Google Search and Maps for services people look for
  • Instagram and TikTok for consumer brands
  • LinkedIn and introductions for B2B
  • WhatsApp for every conversation, because UAE buyers expect to chat
  • Industry events and exhibitions when you arrive with booked meetings

5. Partners and distribution

Distributors, resellers and system integrators can open doors faster than direct sales, especially in B2B and government. Choose partners who already sell to your ideal customer.

6. Measure and adjust

Track cost per lead, lead quality, response time and closed deals by channel. Cut what does not bring buyers and put the budget behind what does.

Common questions

How do foreign companies enter the UAE market?

Most start by testing demand remotely, then set up a free zone or mainland company, hire or partner locally, and build visibility on Google, AI assistants and the social channels their buyers use.

Do I need Arabic to sell in the UAE?

Not always, but Arabic content and support build trust with Arab buyers and are often expected by government and larger local companies.
