The UAE uses competitions to find and fund innovators. For founders with a prototype or MVP, they offer prize money, visibility and access to government and investors.

Competitions to know

  • Create AI Agents Championship (Dubai): launched by Sheikh Hamdan in October 2026, over AED 2.5 million in prizes, open to ideas, prototypes and MVPs
  • Global Prompt Engineering Championship (Dubai AI Week): AED 1 million prize pool; the 2025 edition drew nearly 3,800 participants from 125 countries
  • Agentic AI Award: a $1 million annual prize from Dubai Municipality and the World Economic Forum for AI that improves life in cities
  • UAE Artificial Intelligence Office challenges, run with partners such as Mastercard and First Abu Dhabi Bank in past editions
  • Khalifa Fund innovation competitions in Abu Dhabi, covering AI, fintech and cleantech

What winning entries have in common

  • A specific problem with a clear user
  • A working product, even a small one
  • Evidence: users, pilots or measurable results
  • A credible team and a plan to scale

Use competitions as a launch plan

A competition deadline is a good forcing date for an MVP. Build, test with real users, enter, and use the visibility to win your first customers.

Rules, prizes and deadlines change every edition. Always check the organiser's official page.
